To Compare or To Contrast.. That was the question

25 years of skatin'

The answer is to Contrast.

To contrast the CCS online store to the old and current versions of the CCS catalogue.

I've been looking at the catalogues ever since elementary school. I couldn't wait for the day that I would get the newest copy to take into school to show all my buds the phreshest decks. We would drool over things we had no money to buy and no clue how to order over the mail. Those days seemed impossible compared to the ease of the internet now.

Now with the online store, it doesn't matter where one is, everyone and anyone can get a deck and go shred. You can get in on contests, see where skate events are going down, and to be informed on the newest and long time pro skaters. The only thing I don't like about CCS is the rise in Rastafarian and drug influenced shirts and skate decks. I don't remember seeing anything like that when I was young, maybe I did and I just had no clue what it meant. I'm not protesting anything, I just feel its not a good image to carry around. It makes money and that's what it's all about now a days.

Anyways, keep pushing.

Media Violence...... Procrastination at it's finest

Talk about a good topic gone bad. Let's just say, this was not my best moment when it comes to class presentation assignments. I realized about 2 or 3 days before the due date that all I had acomplished was putting my name and title on the paper. Between multiple class projects being worked on at one time, this project seemed to just slip my mind. Needless to say, this project could have been a lot better and well organized. I'm just glad I has something put together in time, I had acutally finished that morning before presenting. If I could I would redo my topic, but I can not so I will just settle.

Lets all get out our canvas and paint a masterpiece

Late one night while surfing the web and watching videos I came across this little diddy. Watching the "Joy of Painting" use to be a regular routine for me after school. Finding this makes me want to watch all of his episodes from season one to thirty-one. Bob Ross would paint beautiful oil paintings in thirty minutes or less. One of the greatest out there. He is now painting happy little clouds and trees in heaven. RIP 1942-1995.

Have you heard of CAKE?

Well I have, and I can not seem to stop listening to this song. The guitar is simple, but combined with the funky bass, steady drum beat, great combination of the trumpet, how can it not be set on repeat?Cake - Nugget

As I sit, wasting time

As I sit in front of this computer, I go to websites to kill some time,
I look at things that stir no interest, but still I sit and bore my mind,
Thoughts come and go ever so slow, don't I have a place to go?
I do in fact! but have time to slack, due to the late start of my class,
I sit and sit and sit some more, as I said it is quite a bore,
This lady next to me keeps looking over, weird part is I don't even know her,
I think I might go take a stroll, the weather is nice, so I think I'll go,
When I am asked "what have you done?", I laugh at myself and then reply,
"I sat around for a bit of time and all I did was make a rhyme"

PRIMUS IN 3D! 3D! 3D!

Gathering of the Vibes

(Above Image, http://www.primusville.com/)

You read it right folks! The band Primus has announced that they will be
going on tour... In 3D! This will be the first time any band has done a
traveling 3D tour. At first I was a little confused.. a band in 3D? How
does that make any sense? Well the band will be playing on stage as
normal, but there will be projectors displaying 3D movies and effects
all around the band while playing. I must admit its a pretty cool idea,
but I'm not down for wearing some goofy glasses the whole time. I mean,
I'm the type of person that gets up in front of the crowd, runs around
in the middle of mosh pits, and jumps off the stage. As I don't see it
possible to jump off the stage at this event, I do plan on trying to
start a pit. So yeah, I'll wear the glasses at times, but I'm not there
for the effects, I'm there for the music and to watch some awesome
musicians jam for a better part of two hours. The show isn't till
October 15Th, so I will inform you all about the show as soon as I get home.
It will be taking place at The Fillmore in Silver Springs Maryland,
which if you haven't been to is an awesome venue. With a big stage, an
even bigger dance floor, and a balcony with seats to watch the band from
above, I don't see what else you could ask for?... maybe world peace,
but thats another story.

My Life At A Glance

(Image from: http://www.ludwig-drums.com/)
Hello all, I'm Matthew Vollmer, I prefer Matt, but anything will do. I was born May 2nd 1992, which means I am currently 20 yrs of age. I was born and raised in Maryland, around the areas of Mount Airy and Frederick. I have two sisters and one brother, I am the middle child. My life is all about playing and listening to music. My main focus is the drums, which I have been playing for about 6 years now. I dabble with string instruments as well, and a little electric keyboard. I like a wide range of music anywhere from folk to metal, and classical to power violence. I really enjoy talking to other musicians, so if you play anything lets jam sometime.
With this class I plan to  follow the field of media and become a camera man. I would like to film and help broadcast for the news, sports (preferably the Orioles!), or go on trips around the world filming the natural beauty of earth. As a kid I loved making home movies and making little movies involving friends or setting up action figures.
